Procedures for the Classroom
Materials:
You are responsible for your desk area.
Jobs will be assigned to take care of classroom property.
Please bring your silent reading book, all textbooks, and work to class each day.
You are responsible for having ALL supplies at ALL times!
Getting Out of Your Seat:
You may get up ONLY during independent work or transitions (pencil sharpening, drinks, bathroom, materials, etc.)
I will dismiss you for recess, lunch, and specials.
You may use the bathroom during recess and lunch. If it’s an emergency, Just GO!!!
Entering/Exiting the Classroom:
As a class, you will line up on the wall outside of the classroom before entering the room. Wait until I come to get you.
I will dismiss you from your desks when lining up for specials, assemblies, and lunch.
QUIET BEHAVIOR IN LINES IS EXPECTED.
Getting An Adult’s Attention:
Please, RAISE YOUR HAND! If teachers are busy helping other students, wait patiently. We will not answer students who do not raise their hand.
Working:
Independent work is expected to be just that - INDEPENDENT (and quiet, too)!
During small group work, keep your voices low and be aware of others around you.
During class discussions, raise your hand to participate. Be aware of others that may want to contribute also.
If you have time left over, recheck your work, or work on another assignment.
Homework is expected to be done at home! Any homework that is not turned in on time will be done during recess in the Homework Lab.
Turning in Work:
Homework will be collected by myself or the “Homework Helpers.”
Classwork will be kept by you so that we can go over it in class. Tests/Quizzes should be put on the overhead when finished.
Expectations for Quality of Work:
All work should be labeled with your name, number, date, topic, and assignment in the left hand corner.
Any final papers should be done in cursive or typed, unless noted otherwise.
Drafts for writing can be in print, cursive, or typed, with lines skipped. (14 pt. font/Times or Arial)
It is expected that you will do your best on all assignments.
Jobs
Jobs will rotate monthly. Four students will be responsible for one job each week. (i.e. Lunch and Milk, Homework Helpers/Agenda Checkers, Books and Shelves, Teacher Helpers, and “Passer-outers”) The whole class will clean up on the Friday of each week.
Attitude
Be Positive.
School is a mistake-making place. Enjoy the process.
Stay in the moment. Take deep breaths. Smile.
Realize, every challenge is given to you for a reason, and “No challenge is greater than your ability to overcome it.”
Remember the Mosiacs:
I have read and understand the Procedures in Mrs. Le Clair’s classroom.
